Day 79 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge- Pesto Squash Salad

Today I am back on Cutting Board Cam (tm), heh, making pesto squash salad. Not quite as spectacular as the Cucumber Wraps, but simple, yummy, and oh so easy.

Also, anyone who said they want to join the next challenge, details are coming up later this week. Very exciting!

Day 76 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge- Dooce & Oprah

Today I checked out Oprah's cleanse blog, and www.Dooce.com, and had a mental breakthrough about what it takes to be successful on a diet, a cleanse, or a long term raw food lifestyle.

Thanks, O! Thanks, Dooce!

Day 74 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: Cucumber Wraps

Today I go into the kitchen and demonstrate making delicious raw cucumber wraps! Oh yes, get ready for Cutting Board Cam!

1 Extra Long Seedless Cucumber
1/2 Red Pepper
1 Avocado
Mixed Baby Greens

Flavor how you like! I used 2 drops of sesame oil, a dash of garlic powder, and a dash of salt.

DELICIOUS, and a wonderful crunchy alternative to a sandwich for lunch.

Day 73 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: Boys in the Garden

This video was taken last night as Basil and Beckett planted the herb garden in our backyard. We're getting a late start as far as the gardening is concerned, but with these two farmers on the job, I think we'll have a bumper crop.

Good thing I'm not on garden duty. I can't even remember if my dog, Gizmo, is a girl or a boy. I've never had a boy dog before! I can't help it! I call all dogs girls!

Raw Treats

I haven't been taking many photos lately. I just can't stand the 18-55 mm lens on my Nikon, and Basil normally has the lens I love on his camera for work.

That's a really long explanation for why my flickr feed has been lonely. I think I took about 6 pictures the entire time I was in Honolulu two weeks ago. Stupid lens.

But I did manage to take a picture of the delicious sweet raw treats I made this weekend. I've finally gotten to the point in my life where I can have treats like this in the house without eating them all in one sitting.

I've lost over 20 pounds, and feel more in control of my relationship with food than I have think I have ever been. My body has been thanking me with super soft hair, and over two months of no heartburn.

I know I keep mentioning heartburn as one of the major benefits of going raw, and that's because it's been the most life changing part of the whole experience for me. Before changing the way I eat, I had heartburn all day every single day for four and a half years. When something like that disappears, you want to learn to yodel, and go the the nearest mountaintop.

So, back to the treats. One is a Coconut Blueberry Bar, and the other a Walnut Baci cookie. Both are delicious! I would share the recipes, but I was just in the kitchen experimenting, and didn't do anything sane like measuring or writing down the ingredients.

Day 72 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge- Yummy Salad

Today I talk about a yummy salad, and tell you a silly story about a bird in my old neighborhood in Atlanta.

The video mysteriously fades out after I talk about the salad. I guess my computer thought that was enough Bunny for the day.

Day 70 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: WEIGH IN

I might look like I've had a rough day in this latest video, but I'm so happy to be here!

Today I do a weigh in, and I've lost 21 pounds in 70 days eating raw foods! I'm just thrilled, and wouldn't be at Day 70 without all of the awesome support from you guys.

I also talk about a typical meal day with Bunny, and about how I deal with making a non-raw (and non vegetarian) meal for my family each day in addition to my raw meals. (hint: Once a Month Cooking style!)

And I threaten to take another 100 Day Raw Food Challenge. Who's with me?!

I'd Rather Die, Thank You Very Much

I posted this question just over a month ago on Ask500.com. As of today, 79% of people surveyed answered NO to the question. I thought you all might be interested in looking at the results. Click the View Results link to see.

I'm posting the results above in case my raw food friends on this blog vote, and wind up skewing the results.

Day 69 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: Cravings for SAD Food

Today I talk about when I am most likely to crave SAD food, and also am getting ready for tomorrow's weigh in.

Day 68 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: RANT

Today I go to the dermatologist to have the biopsy done on my leg, and well, I just have to share the rash with all of you! The appointment did not go as planned.

Warning: There is foul potty mouth and rash footage in this video. If you are offended by either, I would just wait until tomorrow's video and tune in again.

Day 67 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: Cholesterol Meds

Today I discuss my decision about going on cholesterol medication. And divulge my evil plan to reverse metabolic syndrome the natural way through exercise. Evil evil exercise! Also, I am tongue tied throughout this entire video, so feel free to laugh at my expense.

I am incredibly lucky and blessed and fortunate!! To be able to come here, do work that I love, and be able to share it with other people. It's stunning to me.

For some people a week of strategic planning might seem like the most boring torture one could face. For me, it's heaven on Earth. And to actually be in paradise, that's just icing on the raw cacao cupcake.

Tonight I went to Zac Ozawa's 6th birthday party. When I told Zac I needed to take his birthday picture, he quickly primped his hair and wiped his mouth. Too bad the only thing in focus are the french fries on his plate. The camera must be able to read my mind.

More than the ocean, I miss seeing these beautiful mountains and big white low lying puffy clouds during my daily routine.

For the first time since I moved back to the Mainland, for some reason on this trip I am feeling very nostalgic about Hawaii.

Tropical Breakfast

Originally uploaded by darnlucky

This morning I got up and wobbled across the street to the ABC Store, and wrangled up a raw breakfast. They actually had a really nice produce section. So, I picked up fresh apricots, a papaya, pineapple, and a small pack of macadamia nuts for a lovely fruit salad.

I ate it overlooking the construction at the Ilikai and the Pacific Ocean. Then I went back to bed. Funny how everytime I get a day away from Beckett, sleep is my first priority. I'm up now that it's mid-afternoon, and I'm having my first cup of coffee. I'll be heading out to Mililani later for an Ozawa birthday celebration.

Tomorrow is the Manoa Farmers Market, so I'll be up bright and early picking up a few things for this week. I can't wait to see the Thai basil. Oh, how I have missed thee.

Honolulu, Y'all

16 hours later, and I wound up in Honolulu. Yay! Now pardon me while I collapse into a heap and sleep like a bear!

Day 53 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: I Hit A Cop Car

Today was a horrible day, and I videotaped all of it. But once I got home and calmed down, I just had to laugh and erase the video of me boo-hooing all over the camera. I must be detoxing or PMSing or something because my emotions are all over the place and my sense of humor has taken a vacation!

Leaving for Hawaii tomorrow. See you on the other side of the pond!

Day 52 of 100 Day Raw Food Challene: Disappointment

Today I get the results back from my cholesterol test. In the past 52 days my cholesterol has dropped 42 points, but my doctor still wants me to start on cholesterol medication. Big blow.

Between the scale not moving and the doctor's visit, I'm feeling pretty darn low.

Day 51 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: WEIGH IN

Today I weigh in, and it is the halfway mark of my 100 Day Challenge. Not too happy about my weigh in today.

Day 47 of 100 Day Raw Food Challene: Laughing Seed

I took this video on Friday when Basil and I went to the Laughing Seed Cafe in Asheville for our 7th wedding anniversary. We had so much fun. You can hear us giggling throughout the whole video.

The editing is not so great, since I'm back and work and in a hurry. But yay! First video with my new wonderful FLIP camera. Oh, man, we're going to have so much fun together in Hawaii, me and the flip!
