Day 26 of 100 Day Raw Food Challenge: Raw on the Road

Today I ask for advice on how to stay raw while on the road. I will be traveling for work, and will be living out of a hotel for a week. Any suggestions for staying raw while traveling are greatly appreciated, and I'm sure others will also appreciate your sage advice!

Raw on the road...the best thing for me is to have emergency Raw food that I love--granola, cookies, crackers, flavored Raw nuts, my green powder, which I can add to fresh juices. Ideally, I have my prepared foods with at least 2x as much fresh whole foods, but in a pinch I make do with what I brought along.

Restaurants: salads with just olive oil and lemon slices on the side; request extras for the salads, like available fruits and veggies, ask for bowls of fruit or berries for dessert.

Hope this helps some. Enjoy your trip!

OMG you are going to have a blast and I can't wait to be right there experiencing it all with you through the magic of the Internet!!

Yay!!! *Jumps up and down* Bunny is taking me to Hawaii with her!! Yay!!!

When I sent you those DMs on Twitter, I had no idea you were talking about being away for some time--let alone, being away in such a cool place!

Do, please, get some perfectly ripe pineapples while you are there! YUM! You'll be able to get all kinds of fruits, I think, that will most likely be so much tastier than we get in the grocery stores here.

I make tomato and sweet pepper salads whenever we are on the road. They are easy, tasty, and filling. I chop up tomatoes, sweet peppers, and sometimes onion. Then I add olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and fresh/dried herbs. If you have some pinenuts to add to it, that would be even more filling.

I bet you'll find lots of places to order smoothies that don't contain sugar water, too! Ooh! I can't wait to see everything and hear all about your trip!

Lots of love to you!

Okay...it's way to late for Ruby to be up, but I couldn't go to bed with out checking on the Bunny. Honolulu?! It's a raw food paradise over in Hawaii...raw foodists from around the globe congregate there because they have so much to offer in topical delights! I will go through some of my saved material in the light of day ans see what I have to share with you.

So exciting!

You should see if you can find a juice bar that serves up sugar cane juice. That counts as a green juice because sugar cane is technically a grass. (Like wheatgrass). Coconut/coconut water should be plentiful too! YUM! I think you will be better off than at home.

OMG I am so jealous. Hawaii is where it's at! I love it and I want to really go with you. Forget packing raw food, I'd like to squeeze in your suitcase!

Get going with your dehydrator and make up some crackers and bread then you can have something to go with a salad and you can make a sandwich.

Check out this blog for raw food restaurants.

You should check out Blossoming Lotus if you're in the area. I haven't been to the one in HI but I have been to the one in Portland, OR and it's GOOD!

I had been curious about traveling while raw so I'm getting some good tips here. :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Bunny-Enjoy your trip. It is true that you are going to raw food paradise and finding plenty of wonderful things to eat will be easy. I for one truly love fresh coconuts and plenty of fruits, but do try to be "green" also. Long time healthy raw foodist tend to naturally gravitate towards more non sweet fruits, green foods, and supplements(green powders like Pure Synergy or any of the green algaes). Dr. Gabriel Cousens book Rainbow Green is a must for any successful raw foodist and is a easier and more condensed version of Conscious Eating(which is often used as a text in alternative healing schools). There is a section in Cons. Eat. that is devoted to traveling and flying. If my memory serves me correct, it is also in Rainbow Green. Enjoy your journey.

-Look up all the healthy food stores, raw food restaurants, farmer's markets, etc. ahead of time and plan meals around/with them.

-Prepare nibble bags of goodies ahead of time and take them with!

-KleanKanteen.com water bottle (I like the 18oz. with the loop pop-up cap).

-Portable blender and knife, if possible, for daily green smoothies. Both of which could be shipped in checked baggage?

-HAVE FUN ON THIS ADVENTURE! (Thank you so much for taking us with you!!!)
