Eyebrow Adventures

Eyebrow Adventures

Nothing can knock a girl down a few notches on the cuteness scale like accidentally shaving off of the eyebrows at 6am on a Monday morning during a business trip. I forgot my tweezers, and decided to do a quick brow freshen up using the tip of my brand new razor. Um. I shaved a stripe into my brow, which meant the whole brow had to go. After standing in front of the mirror laughing, I had to shave the other one off too.

I've been obsessing for the past three days about drawing on eyebrows, which was much harder since I didn't have much time to break out my old favorite beauty manual, YouTube.

Here are my brows today: on the glamorous setting.

love em!!! I've had to "put mine on" daily for a few years, I can do it with my eyes closed. Go see my eyebrows through the years on my blog a few posts back. Those bad boys are put on with a brush and powder!

You know I was hairless for about 8 months, and so I got to be very good at drawing the brows. I was happiest with taking a brow pencil and 'sketching' as if I were drawing the hairs in the position I wanted to see them. So ... little tiny strokes with the pencil, rather than creating a shape of the perfect brow and then coloring it in.

You have dark hair, so it won't ever look too dark (on me it was easy to look too dark, even though no one had any idea what my true haircolor might have been). After I was done with chemo, the brows never quite came back as full as they'd been before, so I'm kind of brow-conscious in reference to my own look. I color them in, or dye them in order have them show up more. I have a bit of personal baggage around the idea that if I don't have eyebrows, I don't look 'healthy'. In discussion with other cancer survivors, I find that I am not alone in this.

I think you look lovely with your artistic brows. :) Thanks for sharing your booboo with all of us!

Hearing the feedback of your readers also reminded me to be more grateful for my eyebrows.

OMG Could I love you any more, Beth!? You are so beautiful with brows, in the nude, or all painted up--inside and out you are so absolutely gorgeous!

I wonder if you'll end up preferring the shaved and painted on look to natural after you are used to this for a while?

Lots of love to you!
