Until I started eating raw food I always disliked the grocery store closest to our house. I called it The Ghetto Grocery because they didn't carry a lot of the gourmet and snobby foods I would buy. You can't find Nutella at The Ghetto Grocery. And they don't have live lobsters in a tank!

But who knew you could get organic unsweetened coconut flakes, every kind of raw nut imaginable, flax seeds in bulk, and the most lovely fresh herbs I've ever seen in a grocery store. The Ghetto Grocery has got it going ON!

We were there yesterday, and the fresh dill looked amazing. So, I got up this morning and made little zuchninni bites with a raw dill and sunflower paste, filled with sweet peppers and tied with little carrot strings.

These are in the fridge waiting to be gobbled up for dinner. It was wonderful to spend a lazy morning in the kitchen being creative. I created a few new salad dressings, did a lot of chopping and bagging up of ingredients for sauces and smoothies for the week, and got some stuff into the freezer to help make the week less about chopping and mincing and dicing and more about the YUMMM.

Hi bunny, I'm seriously contemplating going on the raw food diet. I'm fat and feeling sliggish. I'm living abroad and would love to set up my own company. that won't be possible feeling like this. I have to be realistic about this. I don't think I'll be able to go 100% raw but I'll try to shoot for 70/30 or 80/20. I've already ordered a vitamix machine. It should arrive in a couple of days. Can you give me some advice.

Oh, YUM, for sure! That must feel so good to have accomplished all of this today. I am so happy for you - and for us, but that might sound greedy - because we get to learn about and enjoy the process with you! :o)

Yummm ... Clever you for making such good use of the oddly named Ghetto Grocery! I guess we have to know what we're looking for before we can learn how to appreciate it :-)

Hi
I just watched your day 20 You Tube video, and found it encouraging. As I am writing this comment, I see my friend Penni has stopped by your blog as well.

I also have a large amount of weight I'd like to lose, but am finding that secondary to my improved health on raw. I've been trying to head into raw foods via juice feasting.

Anyways - have a great day

Hey everybody,

I've been swamped and am just getting around to answering this post.

anonymous- the only advice I have since I've only been doing this for 3 weeks is this...

Find a raw salad dressing recipe (or 5!) that you love. With a variety of yummy dressings, it's not as hard to go raw as you might think.

Also, pick your battles. For example, at first I didnt' have a dehydrator, so I picked up some Wasa (ahem, cardboard) crackers to eat instead of homemade crackers.

Now I am dehydrating, and loving it. But I didnt' sweat the Wasa (ahem, cardboard) crackers. I just tried to make a better choice than I would have made before.

As for the rest of you. I LOVE YOU ALL! :) The next person that tells me how fabulous I look is going to start getting checks in the mail. :)
